Design Tool

When you enter your measurements and make your design choices in our design tool you’ll get to see all changes to the railing directly – in both 3D and as a drawing. This will ensure you how the railing will turn out before you place your order.

You have the opportunity to save your railing, double-check your measurements and whenever you want to log in to adjust your previous inputs and choices. You can also send the product as a quote to your e-mail, so that you can easily compare different railings or discuss within the family before you place the order.

Maintenance Free

If you choose a handrail made of aluminium or choose to not have a handrail, the railing will be as close to maintenance free as a railing possibly can. All you have to do is clean the glass and wipe the posts occasionally. But depending on what you have chosen for details you find the maintenance instructions here!

Easy To Assemble

We’ve been given a lot of thoughts to make our railing easy to assemble. All screws and other fastening details are included. Our measurement templates specifies how the posts should be placed in relation to the dimensions you entered.

You also get assembly instructions videos. The videos are specially designed for your railing and show the steps you go through during your assembly.

Safety Glass & Quality Assured Constructions

Alu Color is produced mainly of aesthetic reasons. Despite this, this is a glass railing with high demands for safety and function. We always deliver our railing with laminated safety glass.

CE Marked Railing

Our aluminium railings are CE marked which meets the requirements for European standard by EN 1090-1. More information about the CE-mark.

Technical information

You should know this about AluColor

Different Colours on The Glass from Different Angles

Your chosen RAL colour will be matched with a colour code from the glass supplier. Since the colour is produced by combining up to four plastic films in different basic colours, the colour of the glasses may perceive a little differently depending on which side you see the glass from. This is why we label the glasses based on which sides are the same. Assemble the marked sides in the same direction.

The Transparency is Affected by The Colour Choice

The transparency of the glass is affected of which colour you choose. A lighter RAL colour makes the glass more transparent than if you choose a dark colour.
The exception is if you choose a white RAL colour, then the glass has a “frosted” foil.

Same Colour for Every Detail

We paint all details in the colours your order. Some details are made with plastic and won’t be painted in the same way as the aluminium parts. So the plastic parts can be percieved as a little more duller or shinier.

Technical details

Posts

Posts are powder coated in the RAL colour of your choice. Please note that colours may seem different in reality, from how they appear on a screen.

Clamps

Clamps are powder coated in the RAL colour of your choice. Please note that colours may seem different in reality, from how they appear on a screen.

Glass

Glass comes in colours calculated to be as close to the RAL colour of your choice as possible. Different plastic films are combined to create the colour of your choice. Values are based on transmittance and a 10 degree observation angle with light source D65. The perceived colour may vary.

Handrail

Handrails are powder coated in the RAL colour of your choice. Please note that colours may seem different in reality, from how they appear on a screen.

CE-marked posts

The posts have been tested for top-down and lateral attachment to wooden base, and can withstand loads of 0.5-1.0 kN/m.

Square 50x50 mm

Square aluminium posts and handrails with dimensions 50x50 mm.

Surface layer 20 µm

Our aluminium products are anodised. It's the same principle as on the mast of a sailboat, which is wind and weather resistant.

Square 50x50 mm

Square aluminium posts and handrails with dimensions 50x50 mm.

Wooden Handrail

Carved handrail in untreated light oak or jatoba (a hard wood with characteristics and an appearance similar to teak).

Corners

At any corners, the installer turns the wooden handrail themselves to ensure the fit is accurate. Both wood and aluminium can be cut perfectly well using a regular miter saw. In cases in which you choose an aluminium handrail and the corner's 90 degrees, no cutting is required.

8.76 mm Laminated Glass

Two 4 millimetre glass panes with a plastic film between them. If the glass breaks, the plastic film ensures it stays together as one part. Comes with ground and polished edges.

8,76 mm Toughened Laminated Glass

Same construction as our standard laminated glass, but with two tempered glass panes instead of one. We recommend this glass for environments in which the barrier may be exposed to repeated external stress. Comes with ground and polished edges.

Clamps Made of Zinc or Stainless Steel

You choose between zinc (painted the same colour as the railing) and acid-resistant stainless steel (AISI 316) clamps.

Colour

The clamps come in the same colour as the rest of the railing.

Lacquered Aluminium Parts

Poles or other aluminium parts require occasional maintenance. Should stains appear, a mild detergent, water and a soft cloth are usually sufficient. Do not use products with abrasive, acidic or alkaline properties. Avoid hard impacts with sharp edges, as the paintwork can be damaged and moisture may penetrate.

Glass

Use a soft cloth to clean glass surfaces with window or mirror cleaning fluid. For more difficult stains, rubbing alcohol can be used. Afterwards, clean with window and mirror cleaning fluid for a second time. Do not use abrasive agents on glass.

Wooden Handrail

If the railing is outdoors, we recommend cleaning the handrail and sanding it with fine sandpaper. Treat the handrail using a preserving product such as wood oil or similar, depending on the weather conditions. Handrails installed indoors only require cleaning and light sanding. Treatment with wood oil or similar is optional. All oak contains varying amounts on tannic acid, depending on the moisture of the wood. This is because the tannic acid counteracts decay in the wood. When your oak lintel or handrail is exposed to a humid or wet outdoor climate for the first time, the tannic acid is secreted. Which could cause discoloration on the surface below or underneath. Therefore, we recommend that the wood gets oiled, alternatively coated with oxalic acid during the mounting in order to decrease the risk of secretion of tannic acid. The oxalic acid could also be used to clean discolorations on the surface below. Consult with your paint shop before using oxalic acid. To keep the wood in good condition, we recommend oiling the wood a few times during the year.

Symmetrical Sections

When entering your measurements into our configurator, always enter the outside measurements of the spot in which you wish to place your railing. Our configurator will then make the necessary adjustments. We then adjust the section measurements so that each section on each respective side is the same length. So we adapt your railing to your measurements, not the other way around.

Customisable Railing Height

In our configurator, you can choose a railing height between 800 mm and 1100 mm from the ground to the top of the railing. The Swedish Housing Agency's standards dictate that if there is a risk of falling from a height of more than 3 metres, then the railings must be 1100 mm tall.

Millimetre Perfect

When you enter your measurements, we ask you to do so in millimetres. We create your railing to the millimetre, so that it's a perfect fit for where you want to place it.

Everything is included with your order

The package you receive from us includes everything you need to assemble your barriers. This includes posts, glass and handrails, as well as all screws, drill bits and special tools. All you need is a screwdriver, wrench, ruler and spirit level.

Assembly Videos and Instructions

Our assembly videos help you by showing specific steps of the installation process. Our assembly tips and videos are adapted to each order. They're not general descriptions, rather, they directly concern your particular order.

Attachment on Top

The foot is anchored to the floor with four screws.

Lateral Fixtaion

The post is anchored with two screws on the side, directly against the anchoring surface.

Customisable Attachment Heights

If you choose lateral attachment, you can also choose the attachment height. You can let the post extend down by 350 mm, 250 mm, 195 mm or 145 mm. Generally, the larger the size, the better. Attachment height may affect the number of sections per side.

Screw for Wood Attachment

For all orders, screws for attachment to wood are included. When attaching to other materials, we recommend that you contact your local hardware store. If you choose attachment to a wooden substrate, screws are included for this purpose. The screw is made of hardened steel with CorrSeal surface treatment for outdoor environments. The screw is equipped with a milling groove along the stem and one on the tip. This means a very low screw-in torque in harder wooden materials and minimizes cracking.

Screw for Concrete Attachment

If you choose attachment to a concrete substrate, screws are included for this purpose. The screw is made of hardened steel with Corrseal treatment for outdoor environments - Corrosivity class C4. Approved for basic materials: Cracked concrete - Uncracked concrete - Hole-covered decks. Also suitable for: Solid brick - Hollow brick - Solid mexite brick - Natural stone.

Lintel With or Without Wall Attachment

If the railing starts from a wall, you can choose to also attach the rail to the wall. This can provide a slightly more stable construction.

When you're building your railing, the usage class (A+, A, B or C) gives an indication of where it's suitable to use. Classes are based on current building regulations and our own product tests, and take into account your specifications regarding railing height, section width, details, etc. They're our recommendations to help you make the right choice!

Class A+

A+ rated railings meet the Swedish Housing Authority's requirements for railings at a drop height of over 3 metres from floor level to ground level, and are therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments, as well as public ones such as offices, restaurants and shops. Our A+ rated railings can handle loads of at least 1 kN/m, and those with glass include only safety glass that prevents personal injury in the event of impact.

Class A

A-rated railings meet the Swedish Housing Authority's requirements for railings at a drop height of over 3 metres from floor level to ground level, and are therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments. Our A-rated railings can handle loads of at least 0.5 kN/m in line load and in cases where the railing has glass. Those with glass include only safety glass that prevents personal injury in the event of impact.

Class B

Class B railings are suitable for use in environments in which the level difference from floor to ground is 0.5-3 metres. Our B-class railings can withstand loads of at least 0.5 kN/m. Those with glass include only safety glass that prevents personal injury in the event of impact.

Class C

C-rated railings are suitable for use at ground level. Those with glass include only safety glass that prevents personal injury in the event of impact.
